Heritage Tavern of Madison

Dined out with friendly folks at work this evening and visited the Heritage Tavern for the first time.

The restaurant features dimly lit, darker interior. Slick yet classic. Please be sure to make reservation because this place fills up rapidly.

Legend has it that the photos on the wall of this place features the chef’s home farm where much of what’s served is grown. The price point is between $30-$40/person depends on your appetite. Drinks range from $9-$12/serving.

I wasn’t entirely impressed with the appetizer served here so I’ll skip right to the main courses.

I was actually hoping they have these little plates for sale. They are so cute!

My dinner- The schnitzel with pork belly (underneath the schnitzel). The pork belly was flavorful, crispy, yet not too rich. This plate is a bit on the greasy side. Personally I think the dish can benefit with some balancing act with slightly more fiberous selections on the plate.

One of our companion’s chicken looks just as exquisite! Though I have not had a bite but judging from the texture and the coloration it seems that the breast was able to retain most of its moisture.

The view of one of the two dining halls. The staff here are helpful (not exactly super friendly), but they know well enough to stay out of your business and conversation, just the right balance. Some waitstaff can be a bit too…. friendly, if you know what I mean.

Overall, this is a nice “first-date” place if a gentleman wishes to impress the lady strictly on price point. After that, you can arrange your out of town family/friends to dine here for the same reason. But in Madison, I can find other dining experiences more to my liking with the same money spent.

Score: 3/5 Stars from the Blue Marine Artist.
